Preseason has come and gone for the Fury, and they now look ahead to the start of their fall season, which will kick off against familiar foe, SureSports FC.
Their two bouts this past spring produced two wins in the Fury’s favor, but the strong side from Maryland look to change things after the mid-season break, and have regrouped for the fall season.
“I think our squad have a lot of talent in the starting eleven, and just as much talent coming off the bench,” says captain and goalkeeper Ryan Sandell. “We are a deep team, an area we’ve struggled with in recent seasons.” And on the Fury’s outlook for this weekend, “The boys are starved for a game. A couple weeks of training in the heat, and our original season-opening match being cancelled last weekend due to the hurricane, I think we will come out with a lot of energy.”
The Fury have found incredible success in recent years, going on a win-streak that extends as far back as 2016. They’ve done so through bringing in top talent, and buying into a system that has proven to work, emphasizing attacking football. One player has found much success of his own in that system; Myles Englis. His first season with the club, the Creighton University product bagged 23 goals in 23 games, on his way to the league’s Golden Boot award.
Going into the second half of the season, he looks to play a major role in that left wing position.
“We had a few good weeks of training leading up to our opener, so we have high expectations for the fall season.”
“I think we continue to have success because we bring in the right guys, both from a playing standpoint and a personality standpoint. When you have a group that is close off the field, you have the same results on it. We are ready to get this season started, get some games in, and continue this excellent run of form we’ve been experiencing.”
Another fall season is ahead of the Fury, and the attitude surrounding the club is one of determination, and focus. This team is poised for another run at a title.
Come out and support the Fury this Sunday at 5:00, at Rowan University!
